FRED MAINA: Chief Executive Officer ICON HOTELS GROUP AFRICA.

A graduate of the premier African Hotel Training Institute Kenya Utalii College, Fred Maina is an ambitious results-driven and optimistic Management Executive and successful businessman with over 38 years’ experience within the hospitality and travel industry across the African Continent and Europe. He has proven abilities in, strategic planning, project management, enhancing operational efficiency and team building. He has a particular bias for hospitality projects start ups and turn-around re-engineering strategies.

 

Fred has unique abilities to identify areas of strength and weaknesses, and formulation of company policies, standards, changes in dynamics and systems that optimize productivity and bottom lines. He has a diversified background, which includes extensive knowledge in local, regional, continental and international hotel and tourism operations.

 

Fred is a founder/member of Icon Hotels Group Africa and currently driving its vastly optimistic agenda to have in excess of 2000 world class hotel rooms under brand portfolio by the year 2020. This vision is on course and it is most likely to be surpassed given the current growth trajectory that Icon Hotels Group Africa is enjoying across the African continent. He is both a corporate driver and team builder and he is passionate about ensuring that Icon Hotels Group Africa becomes the first African owned and managed brand to compete at par with the major global hospitality brands currently operating in Africa.

 

Fred’s core competencies are in Business Acquisition & Development,   Administration, Finance & Marketing and Team Leadership.

 

Under Fred’s dynamic leadership, Icon Hotels Group Africa & Icon Hotels & Resorts associated brands is growing into an African Hospitality powerhouse.

Human Resources & Compliance

Mariam I. Ogbolu is a well-rounded professional who has almost 30 years working experience in the hospitality industry. She started her career with Nigeria Hotels Limited where she worked over the years in various capacities (Food & Beverages Manager, Marketing Manager and Hotel Manager) in the different hotels then owned and/or managed by Nigeria Hotels. After a stint of 12 years with Nigeria Hotels, she moved to Protea Hotel Victoria Island, Lagos where she spent ten years as its Food & Beverages Manager. She also later worked as Food & Beverages Manager with Golden Tulip Kumasi City, Ghana. On her return to Nigeria, she joined the Best Western ( The Island Hotel) team now known BWC Hotels as Food & Beverages Manager from which position she assumed her current role as our Head of Human Resources & Compliance.

CHEF SILAS MOGAKA ACHOKI
